Saakashvili's Health Worsens

| News, Georgia

Georgia’s ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili’s health has reportedly deteriorated. According to Giorgi Saakashvili, the ex-president's brother, Mikheil Saakashvili's condition had worsened dramatically after the last trial, when he became incapacitated.

Proceedings on the case of illegal border crossing are being held in the Tbilisi City Court. According to Giorgi Saakashvili, it is very important for Mikheil Saakashvili to come to the trial to make it clear that his condition is severe. However, according to the family and lawyers, "Vivamed" doctors have not yet been permitted to transport the patient.

"It has not been confirmed yet, but there is an assumption that the doctors of "Vivamed" will not permit transportation due to his unfavorable condition. "Vivamed" clinic is 2 minutes away from the court. Let's wait. I will still hope that he will be able to attend the trial and answer the questions that have been bothering the public for the last few months", said Giorgi Saakashvili.

Saakashvili's eldest son, Eduard, spoke in an interview that “the last time I was in Georgia was in September, which means that I did not personally witness what happened. However, I have frequent contact with family members and people who visit him. I, for example, trust my brother very much, who never exaggerates anything and always describes the situation very moderately. Nikolozi visited Misha a few days ago. He told me that my father is lying in bed, is very weak, very thin, and is worse than at the last visit, which is very difficult to hear”.

Khatia Dekanoidze, a member of the "United National Movement," after visiting Mikheil Saakashvili, states that due to his serious health condition, the doctors of the "Vivamed" clinic cannot take responsibility for the staging of the convicted in court.

According to Dekanoidze, he spoke to the ex-president's attending physician. He stated that his condition is so serious that it may be fatal during transportation to the court.

"His health condition is severe in terms of his weight; there are serious consequences as a result of neurological observation, as I spoke to the attending physician. When I spoke to the administration and the doctor, the hospital and the doctors would not allow him to be staged in the courtroom. They cannot take responsibility if there is no fatal outcome on the road, which indicates that he has a very serious health condition," says Dekanoidze.

According to Shalva Khachapuridze, ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili's lawyer, another new substance, arsenic, was found in Saakashvili's body. "The results of the nail analysis have not arrived yet, they will arrive today, but it was found out through a telephone conversation that as a result of the nail analysis, Mikheil Saakashvili discovered another new substance, arsenic." - said Khachapuridze in a conversation with TV First.

Currently, Saakashvili is placed in Vivamedi Clinic. On November 19, Giuli Alasania said that mercury was found in Saakashvili's body, which, in his own words, "he could not swallow." Later, the lawyer, Valery Gelbakhiani, said that the former president was probably poisoned.

Saakashvili’s party members made a wide range of comments. Nika Melia, Chairman of the "National Movement," wrote on Saakashvili’s health in his post on social network: "Friends, the health condition of Mikheil Saakashvili is getting worse day by day. According to the family and lawyers, the conclusions of the authoritative experts have been completed. Accordingly, they are applying to the court these days with the request to transfer him for treatment abroad“.

Public Defender Nino Lomjaria visited the "Vivamedi" clinic to get acquainted with the health condition of ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili. According to Lomjaria, he will try to talk to the medical staff, Mikheil Saakashvili's doctor, and Saakashvili himself if he has the desire and physical ability to do so.

"I haven't seen [Mikheil Saakashvili] in person for a long time. The last time I saw him was in the Gori hospital, although my representatives visited him regularly. Our concilium did not interfere in all this since we are waiting for the expert's report. Since lately there have been very worrying assessments about the worsening of his health condition, I decided to come and get to know his condition personally," said Nino Lomjaria.
