Anti-Iran Attitude in Azerbaijan Increases

Azerbaijan started talking with Israel about border protection

On February 1, Azerbaijan and Israel exchanged views on the development of cooperation in the field of border protection. The discussion took place during a telephone conversation between the head of the State Border Service, Colonel-General Elchin Guliyev, and Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant.

Emphasizing the high level of existing ties between Azerbaijan and Israel, the parties discussed the prospects for cooperation in areas of mutual interest, and exchanged views on the development of relations in the field of security and border protection, the Azerbaijani State Border Service reported.

It should be noted that the exchange of views between representatives of the power blocs of the two countries took place against the backdrop of an unprecedented deterioration in Azerbaijani-Iranian relations and recent air strikes on targets in Iran, behind which Israel allegedly stands.

Azerbaijani MP: "The Azerbaijan-Iran interparliamentary relations working group should be abolished"

At the meeting of the Azerbaijani Parliament, MP Elman Nasirov stated that the working group on Azerbaijan-Iran inter-parliamentary relations should be abolished.

"The attack on our embassy in Tehran was an act of international terrorism. Azerbaijani state and people were chosen as the target. In response to this terror, Azerbaijan's ambassador to Iran was recalled. Let the Milli Majlis [Azerbaijani Parliament] take a similar step and cancel the working group on Azerbaijan-Iran inter-parliamentary relations," he said.

MP Fazail Agamali also said that the attack on the embassy of Azerbaijan in Iran should be considered a terrorist act.

The MP said the “Mullah-Persian regime” would not allow a fair investigation in Iran: "The Azerbaijani State Security Service has also opened a criminal case. I believe that as a result of the investigation by the State Security Council, it should be clear that the Mullah-Persian regime of Iran is responsible for the terrorist act. All relations with Iran should be terminated, and projects should be stopped. At the same time, the working group on Azerbaijan-Iran interparliamentary relations should be released."

"Iran established an intelligence network"

MP Bahruz Maharramov emphasized, "We have seen the true face of Iran throughout history."

The MP noted that in the 1990s, under the guise of assistance, Iranian intelligence officers and, at the same time, under the guise of clerics deployed "religious" [people] in the Azerbaijani army and territories under the guise of a rescue mission:

"Thus, they established their intelligence networks. They caused our defeat in the First Karabakh War by transmitting the information to the Armenian army. Later, in the Patriotic [Second Karabakh] War, we saw the true face of Iran. He almost literally fought us with a gun in his hand. Although President Ilham Aliyev held his hand on the bridge of Khudafarin and said it was a bridge of friendship, Iran still did not stop its actions. In the literal sense of the word, Iran has thrown itself into a well," he added.

"Iran has declared war against us, and we must respond accordingly"

Fazail Agamali said, "The terrorist act committed against our embassy in Iran should be regarded as an attack on our country's territory."

The MP believes it is right that Baku has opened a criminal case regarding the incident: "As a result of this investigation, the Persian Mullah regime should be punished as the organizer of the terrorist act. We should not make any concessions against Iran. Iran has continued its enmity against our country for more than 30 years. The work of the group of Iranian deputies operating here should be terminated."

Aghamali noted that the incident should be discussed at the UN level, and Iran should face the real price. "Iran has declared war against us, and we must respond accordingly," said Agamali.
