Ararat Mirzoyan Holds Political Conversations with High-level Officials at UN

Meeting with Foreign Minister of Iran 

On September 24, within the framework of the UN General Assembly 77th session in New York, Foreign Minister of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan met with Foreign Minister of Iran Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, the Press Office of the Armenian Foreign Ministry reported.

Minister Mirzoyan presented the details of "the aggression unleashed by Azerbaijan against the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Armenia, particularly emphasizing the need for the immediate withdrawal of the Azerbaijani armed forces from the sovereign territories of the Republic of Armenia as well as the elimination of the consequences of the aggression." Referring to the importance of the international community's appropriate and adequate response to the maximalist policy of Azerbaijan, Ararat Mirzoyan highlighted the principled position of the Iranian side regarding the current situation and its resolution.

Hossein Amir-Abdollahian noted that Iran considers any change of borders and geopolitical situation in the region inadmissible.

Both sides emphasized the importance of resolving the issues through peaceful negotiations.

During the meeting, the Foreign Ministers of the two countries commended the high level of Armenian-Iranian relations based on centuries-old friendship. The importance of joint efforts to enrich the bilateral agenda, especially in energy, information technology, agriculture, tourism, transport, and infrastructure, was highlighted.

Meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Syrian Arab Republic 

On September 24, Ararat Mirzoyan met Faisal al-Mekdad, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Syrian Arab Republic.

Foreign Ministers discussed issues related to the development of bilateral relations based on traditional friendly ties. They exchanged views on the prospects of cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

During the meeting, the interlocutors emphasized the role of the Armenian community of Syria in the development of relations between Armenia and Syria, stressing that despite the difficulties experienced during the Syrian crisis, it continues to play the role of a unique bridge between the two countries.

Ararat Mirzoyan and Faisal al-Mekdad addressed the issues of regional security and stability, stressing the need to resolve them through peaceful negotiations and dialogue.

Minister Mirzoyan presented the situation resulting from "the aggression unleashed by Azerbaijan against the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Armenia, highlighting the importance of establishing stability and security in the region as well as restraining the aggressor through efficient steps and relevant mechanisms by the international community."

The Foreign Minister of Armenia also touched upon the normalization process of Armenia-Turkey relations.

Meeting with Foreign Minister of India 

On September 24, Foreign Minister of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan met Foreign Minister of India Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.

Minister Mirzoyan presented to his colleague the consequences of "the large-scale aggression unleashed by Azerbaijan against the sovereign territory of Armenia." Ararat Mirzoyan emphasized the need for targeted statements addressed to Azerbaijan by international partners and the implementation of practical steps to prevent new aggressions. In this context, he particularly highlighted the position expressed by India during the urgent sessions of the UN Security Council.

Issues related to the normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan and the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict were also touched upon.

Ararat Mirzoyan and Subrahmanyam Jaishankar touched upon the development of Armenian-Indian relations. The Foreign Minister of Armenia highly appreciated the positions expressed by the Indian side on issues regarding Armenia on international platforms.

On the same day, the Foreign Minister of Armenia, Ararat Mirzoyan, at the invitation of the Foreign Minister of India, participated in the event dedicated to the 75th anniversary of India's independence and India-UN cooperation.

Meeting with Foreign Minister of the Arab Republic of Egypt 

On September 23, on the margins of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly, the Foreign Minister of Armenia had a meeting with the Foreign Minister of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Sameh Shoukry, in New York.

Minister Mirzoyan briefed his colleague on the details of the large-scale aggression carried out by Azerbaijan against the sovereign territory of Armenia, strongly condemning the deliberate targeting of the civilian population and civilian infrastructure by the Azerbaijani armed forces, as well as the violations of international humanitarian law. Ararat Mirzoyan particularly emphasized the importance of statements by the international partners addressed to Azerbaijan and the implementation of practical steps towards preventing new aggressions.

The settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and the normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan were also touched upon.

The interlocutors have also touched upon the Armenian-Egyptian bilateral agenda. In this context, the interlocutors commended the Armenian-Egyptian high-level political dialogue and the active interaction between the Foreign Ministries of the two countries based on mutual trust. Ararat Mirzoyan and Sameh Shoukry expressed their readiness to undertake active steps towards giving new impetus to the existing cooperation in trade and economic relations, tourism, and scientific and cultural spheres.

Meeting with Foreign Minister of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan 

On September 22, Ararat Mirzoyan met with Ayman Safadi, the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

Ararat Mirzoyan and Ayman Safadi had a detailed discussion on further deepening and expanding Armenian-Jordanian relations, particularly focusing on the possibilities of strengthening economic cooperation.

The interlocutors also exchanged views on recent developments and security and stability issues in the Middle East and South Caucasus regions.

Ararat Mirzoyan briefed his interlocutor on the consequences of Azerbaijan's military aggression against the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia. Minister Mirzoyan highlighted the need to deliver a targeted response to the aggressor by the international community and to restrain the maximalist policy of Azerbaijan. The importance of adequate assessment of the war crimes committed by the armed forces of Azerbaijan was also underlined.

Meeting with Foreign Minister of Finland

On September 21, on the margins of the 77th United Nations General Assembly in New York, Foreign Minister of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan had a meeting with the Foreign Minister of Finland Pekka Haavisto.

Ararat Mirzoyan briefed upon the situation resulting from the military aggression unleashed by Azerbaijan against Armenia's sovereignty and territorial integrity. He drew his colleague's attention to the targeting of the civilian population and infrastructure by the Azerbaijani armed forces, gross violations of the UN Charter, the Helsinki Final Act, and international humanitarian law.

In the context of maintaining the ceasefire regime and excluding new aggression, Minister Mirzoyan emphasized the importance of the international community's clear and targeted condemnation of Azerbaijani aggression and the implementation of effective preventive measures.

The sides have also touched upon the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and the normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the development of cooperation between Armenia and Finland on bilateral and multilateral platforms.

Meeting with Foreign Minister of Sweden

On September 21, the Foreign Minister of Armenia met the Foreign Minister of Sweden Ann Linde in New York.

Presenting the details of the military aggression of Azerbaijan against the territorial integrity of Armenia since September 13, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia particularly emphasized the need to eliminate its consequences and the international community's targeted and adequate response to the aggressor country as well as the necessity of restraining the maximalist and aggressive policy pursued by Azerbaijan. The urgency of an appropriate assessment of the war crimes committed by the armed forces of Azerbaijan and the cases of inhumane treatment of servicewomen was also emphasized.

The parties touched upon the agenda of Armenian-Swedish bilateral relations, expressing readiness to undertake active steps towards further expansion and development of cooperation. The deepening of collaboration in the sphere of strengthening democratic institutions in Armenia was highlighted. Thoughts were also exchanged on cooperation on international platforms and the Armenia-EU partnership.

Meeting with Foreign Minister of Nicaragua

On September 21, Mirzoyan met the Foreign Minister of Nicaragua Denis Moncada.

Both parties noted the readiness to develop cooperation in areas of mutual interest. The interlocutors referred to the prospects of deepening collaboration on multilateral platforms. Sides also discussed several issues on the international agenda.

Ararat Mirzoyan presented to the interlocutor the consequences of the military aggression of Azerbaijan against the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia, underlining the importance of the adequate response of the international community to the aggressor and elimination of the consequences of aggression.

Working meeting of the CSTO Foreign Ministers 

On September 21, the working meeting of the CSTO Foreign Ministers, which is traditionally conducted within the framework of the UN General Assembly, was held under the coordination of Ararat Mirzoyan, the Foreign Minister of Armenia, currently chairing the CSTO.

During the meeting, the Foreign Ministers of the CSTO member states exchanged views on the agenda of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly. The strengthening of cooperation of the CSTO member states within the UN framework was highlighted.

Ararat Mirzoyan briefed upon the situation resulting from the latest Azerbaijani aggression against the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Armenia.

Concluding the meeting, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia presented to the CSTO partners the photo exhibition dedicated to the Independence Day of the Republic of Armenia.
