Ararat Mirzoyan on Working Visit to Egypt
Meeting with the Supreme Imam of Al-Azhar
On March 8, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan met with Ahmed el-Tayeb, the Supreme Imam of Al-Azhar, in Cairo, the Press Office of the Armenian Foreign Ministry reported.
Referring to the Armenian community of Egypt, which has a centuries-old history, the interlocutors agreed that it made an important contribution to the development of Egypt. Satisfaction was expressed regarding the friendship between the Armenian and Egyptian peoples based on mutual respect and trust, as well as the developing cooperation between the two countries, the best manifestation of which was the first visit of the Egyptian president to Armenia in February.
"Referring to the security situation in the South Caucasus and the existing challenges, Minister Mirzoyan considered the speculations of the religious factor by Azerbaijan unacceptable, as well as the groundless attempts to disrupt the traditionally warm relations between Armenia and the Armenian people and the Arab world. The minister referred to the humanitarian crisis created in Nagorno-Karabakh as a result of the blocking of the Lachin Corridor by Azerbaijan and the imperative of its resolution," the report added.
"Minister Mirzoyan also presented to the interlocutor the latest developments in the process of normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, the efforts of the Armenian side to establish peace in the region, and the statements and actions of Azerbaijan in recent days that threaten to destabilize the situation," it added.
In turn, the Supreme Imam reaffirmed the position regarding the establishment of peace in the South Caucasus, citing the 2020 statements made by him since October. In the context of calls for tolerance between peoples in the region, Ahmed el-Tayeb also mentioned the message of the Supreme Imam, Sheikh Selim, during the days of the Armenian Genocide to save the Armenians and not participate in the massacres.
Meeting with the Foreign Minister of Jordan
On the same day, Ararat Mirzoyan met with Ayman Al-Safadi, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Jordan and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora Affairs.
Ararat Mirzoyan and Ayman Al-Safadi touched upon issues related to the expansion of political dialogue, emphasizing high-level mutual visits and active interaction on international platforms.
Armenian Foreign Minister presented to his Jordanian counterpart the Armenian side's efforts to normalize relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, establishing peace and stability in the region. Both sides emphasized the importance of settling existing conflicts exclusively through negotiations and dialogue.

Meeting with the Foreign Minister of Lebanon
On March 8, the Armenian Foreign Minister met with Lebanese Foreign Minister Abdallah Bou Habib in Cairo within the framework of the ministerial session of the APL Council.
The interlocutors noted with satisfaction that the Armenian-Lebanese relations are based on shared history, old friendship, and cultural commonalities, also emphasizing the contribution of the Armenian community to the social and political life of Lebanon. It has been noted that in the modern period, the relations between the two states were also marked by mutually beneficial cooperation in bilateral and multilateral formats.
The meeting of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Oman
Within the framework of the ministerial session of the Council of the League of Arab States, Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan met with Sheikh Khalifa bin Ali bin Issa Al-Harsi, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman for Diplomatic Affairs.
The interlocutors touched upon bilateral agenda issues between Armenia and Oman, stressing the importance of political dialogue activation and periodic consultations. Thoughts were exchanged on the possibilities of further development of cooperation in trade, economy, tourism, and other fields.
