Armenia to House 25,000 Families Displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh
On June 14, under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, a regular Cabinet meeting was convened where several significant decisions were made.
The Government approved the implementation procedure for a state support program aimed at providing housing to families displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh after September 27, 2020. This program will facilitate access to housing for approximately 25,000 displaced families. Starting from June 15, beneficiaries can submit their applications online. Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Davit Khachatryan highlighted that electronic certificates for apartment acquisition will be issued with a QR code, allowing beneficiaries to initiate the process with their chosen bank. The application process begins immediately for those seeking to purchase homes, with phases for construction starting on July 15 and for families with existing mortgage loans from August 1. Priority in the initial phase will be given to families with three or more minor children, victims' families, and those with disabled members.
Prime Minister Pashinyan underscored the importance of citizenship in accessing this program, emphasizing that beneficiaries must be citizens of the Republic of Armenia. He affirmed the government's commitment to supporting displaced individuals while also cautioning against external manipulation of Karabakh's population for political ends.
Additionally, the Cabinet adopted a decision promoting the "Cloud First" policy aimed at enhancing Armenia's technological infrastructure. This policy mandates using cloud solutions over traditional servers to store non-state secrets and low-risk classified information, ensure reliable backup and recovery mechanisms, and modernize national IT systems. Deputy Minister of High-tech Industry Ruben Simonyan outlined the plan to transition public authority data to cloud domains, contributing to data protection and system efficiency.
