Armenian Foreign Minister Mirzoyan Meets Finnish Leaders to Discuss Peace, EU Relations, and Regional Cooperation
On November 28–29, during a working visit to Helsinki, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan held a series of meetings with Finnish officials to discuss bilateral cooperation, Armenia-EU relations, and regional developments.
Meeting with Jussi Halla-aho, Speaker of the Finnish Parliament
On November 28, Mirzoyan met Jussi Halla-aho, Speaker of Finland’s Parliament. They explored opportunities to deepen political dialogue and emphasized the importance of interparliamentary cooperation. Both sides highlighted their shared commitment to democratic values and sustainable development goals while discussing collaboration within the EU framework.
Mirzoyan outlined Armenia’s efforts to normalize relations with Azerbaijan, focusing on peace treaty negotiations and the “Crossroads of Peace” program.
Meeting with Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen
In talks with Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen, Mirzoyan discussed Armenia-EU partnerships, ongoing democratic reforms, and collaboration in sectors such as trade, IT, and education. They highlighted the significance of visa liberalization, EU support through the European Peace Facility, and the EU Monitoring Mission’s role in ensuring stability along the Armenia-Azerbaijan border.
Regional security was a key topic, with Mirzoyan emphasizing Armenia’s commitment to peace in the South Caucasus, regional connectivity, and a peace treaty with Azerbaijan.
Roundtable Discussion at Finland’s Foreign Ministry
On November 28, Mirzoyan participated in a roundtable discussion with Finnish officials, civil society members, and experts. He addressed Armenia’s foreign policy priorities, highlighting democratic reforms, sovereignty, and resilience. Discussions also covered Armenia-EU partnerships and regional security dynamics. Mirzoyan reaffirmed Armenia’s commitment to finalizing a peace treaty with Azerbaijan and elaborated on the “Crossroads of Peace” initiative to promote regional connectivity and economic development.

Later on November 28, Mirzoyan met Finnish President Alexander Stubb to discuss strengthening Armenia-Finland relations and advancing Armenia’s partnership with the EU. They reviewed Armenia’s ambitious agenda for cooperation and exchanged views on regional stability and peace efforts.
Meeting with Heikki Autto, Chair of the Grand Committee of the Finnish Parliament
On November 29, Mirzoyan met with Heikki Autto and members of Finland’s Grand Committee. Discussions focused on Armenia-EU relations, regional security, and interparliamentary cooperation. They also highlighted the EU Monitoring Mission’s contributions to stability and Armenia’s progress toward a peace treaty with Azerbaijan.
