Armenian PM Meets Senior US Diplomat
On April 18, Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan met with a visiting senior official from the US State Department, Erika Olson, for talks on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and US-Armenian relations, the government readout said.
According to a statement by Pashinyan’s press office, the normalization of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations was a key topic of discussion during his meeting with Olson. The matters discussed during the meeting between Pashinyan and Olson included issues related to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, such as forming an international dialogue mechanism between Stepanakert and Baku and the unblocking of regional transport infrastructures. They also addressed the humanitarian crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh caused by Azerbaijan’s illegal blockade of the Lachin Corridor.
The US diplomat also met with the Vice President of the Armenian Parliament, the Special Representative of Armenia, in the normalization process of Armenia-Turkey relations Ruben Rubinyan.
The sides discussed regional security and stability and the Armenia-Turkey normalization process. They underscored the importance of the quick implementation of the agreement on opening the land border for citizens of third countries and diplomatic passport holders this summer.
