At a press conference following his visit to Belarus on March 2, Aslan Bzhania, the separatist President of Abkhazia, said that Minsk could become a neutral platform for discussing security issues in the South Caucasus. "The Geneva discussions are not taking place currently and we cannot rely on this platform. Minsk, on the other hand, can become a neutral territory for discussing security issues in the South Caucasus," Bzhania said. "Contacts with Belarus will bring a great many benefits in the future," he added. Bzhania named potential areas of cooperation between Abkhazia and Belarus. In his opinion, the two countries could cooperate in the field of IT technologies. Abkhazia is also interested in working with Belarus in the field of agriculture.
