Azerbaijan Allocates 2 Million Dollars in Aid to Pakistan

Azerbaijan will aid Pakistan in the amount of 2 million US dollars to eliminate the consequences of heavy rains and floods that caused numerous casualties and large-scale destruction in Pakistan, the Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan reported. 

In recent days, 15 people have died as a result of floods caused by torrential rains in Pakistan's Sindh province. According to the official data, 26 thousand 600 houses were destroyed due to floods in the province. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Pakistan's Foreign Minister, called on the United Nations to help the country.

In June, Caucasus Watch reported that Ilham Aliyev received Chairman of the Senate of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani. During the meeting, Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani extended the greetings of the President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Arif Alvi, to the President of Azerbaijan. Aliyev thanked for the greetings of Arif Alvi and asked Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani to convey his greetings to the Pakistani President. The head of state praised Pakistan's brotherly support for Azerbaijan at all times, especially during the occupation of lands, the second Karabakh war, and the post-war period. President Ilham Aliyev noted that at that time, the people of Azerbaijan were very impressed that Pakistan had not established any diplomatic relations with Armenia due to the Armenian occupation.

In March, Caucasus Watch reported that Lt-Gen Heydar Piriyev of Azerbaijan's War College and Rear Admiral Shifaat Ali Khan of Pakistan's Naval Academy met in Baku to discuss military cooperation, according to the Defence Ministry. During the discussion, the Pakistani delegation learned about Azerbaijan's military education system, according to the report. Both parties also praised the development of Azerbaijani-Pakistani relations.
