Azerbaijan And BP Discuss Energy Cooperation
On November 3, Mikayil Jabbarov, the Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan, met with Gordon Birrell, the Executive Vice President for Production and Operations at BP, to discuss energy cooperation on the sidelines of the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC). During the meeting, both sides reviewed opportunities to enhance energy supply, implement oil and gas exploration and production projects, establish new links across the Caspian Sea, Asia, and Africa, and assess potential investment prospects. The discussions highlighted the mutual interest in diversifying joint activities between SOCAR and BP, emphasizing their reliable partnership and strengthened regional cooperation. It was noted that Azerbaijan attached particular importance to innovation in the energy sector, the development of renewable energy sources, and the expansion of international collaboration. In this regard, the parties stressed that long-term strategic cooperation with global partners created a crucial foundation for launching new projects amid the ongoing global energy transition.
