During his attendance at the extraordinary meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on March 5, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov engaged in discussions with Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan revealed that the meeting encompassed discussions on bilateral and regional matters alongside the prevailing situation in the region. A focal point of the deliberations was the restoration of operations at the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Tehran, with the ministers exchanging views on forthcoming plans to facilitate this process.

The parties delved into strategies for augmenting high-level engagements, emphasizing the significance of the Intergovernmental Joint Economic Cooperation Commission between Azerbaijan and Iran and the amplification of regional transport and communication corridors. Minister Bayramov highlighted that Azerbaijan's hosting of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP-29) this year presents additional avenues for cooperation.

Additionally, Minister Bayramov provided insights into the current regional landscape and updated the Iranian side on the ongoing situation and potentialities of the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

During a meeting, Bayramov emphasized that Armenia's involvement of third parties in the South Caucasus, particularly those not fostering peace and stability, and attempts by certain states to arm Armenia pose a threat to the peace process.
