Zakir Hasanov greeted the guests and expressed satisfaction with seeing them in Azerbaijan. Having noted that the military cooperation between Azerbaijan and Turkey is at a high level, the minister also stressed the importance of continuing the work carried out in this direction at an increasing pace.

Prospects for developing cooperation between the two countries in the military, military-technical, military-educational, and other spheres, as well as issues of regional security and mutual interest, were discussed at the meeting.

Touching upon the first state visit of Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to Azerbaijan after he was elected the President of Turkey, the Azerbaijani President underlined the importance of opening the new Central Command Post of Air Force during this trip.

Yaşar Güler said it is a great sense of pride that thanks to the foresight and determination of President Ilham Aliyev, who is successfully continuing National Leader Heydar Aliyev’s policy, Azerbaijan has become an important and influential member of the international community. "The minister mentioned that the close relations and contacts between the two countries’ presidents had positively contributed to the further strengthening of bilateral relations and noted the fruitful mutual interaction with Azerbaijani colleagues," the report added.

During the conversation, the sides expressed confidence that friendly and brotherly relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey would continue to thrive in all areas, including the military sphere. They exchanged views on the prospects for bilateral cooperation.

On August 28, Ilham Aliyev received Metin Gürak, the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Turkey.

During the conversation, they welcomed the successful development of friendly and brotherly relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey in all areas, including the military. The sides stressed the importance of Metin Gurak's visit to Azerbaijan shortly after his appointment, expressing confidence that this visit will contribute to the expansion of cooperation.
