Azerbaijan And Türkiye Highlight Parliamentary Unity and Regional Stability During High-Level Baku Talks
On June 24, Ilham Aliyev, the President of Azerbaijan, received a delegation headed by Numan Kurtulmuş, Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, in Baku. During the meeting, Aliyev highlighted the importance of Kurtulmuş's participation in the 20th Session of the Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States. He noted that Azerbaijan will continue to host events within the framework of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and emphasized the need to further strengthen ties among Islamic countries.
Kurtulmuş thanked the Azerbaijani president for the reception and praised the organization of the parliamentary conference. He also conveyed the greetings of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to Aliyev. The Azerbaijani leader thanked him and asked that his own greetings be passed on to Erdoğan. The speaker stressed that the gathering in Baku was significant for expanding cooperation within the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. He also noted that Aliyev's address to the participants contained important messages and comprehensive assessments.
The two sides discussed the importance of the Shusha Declaration and welcomed the continued strengthening of the brotherly and allied partnership between Azerbaijan and Türkiye across various sectors, including interparliamentary cooperation. They emphasized that the unity and brotherhood between the two countries are unique and represent a shared value for both nations. During the conversation, it was noted that the close relations between Azerbaijan and Türkiye play an important role in maintaining peace and security in the South Caucasus. The meeting also included an exchange of views on cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two countries and opportunities for its further expansion.
On the same day, Ali Asadov, the Prime Minister of Azerbaijan, held talks with Kurtulmuş in Baku. The sides described the hosting of the 20th Session of the Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States as a significant event and praised the successful development of Azerbaijan-Türkiye relations based on brotherhood, alliance, and mutual trust. Emphasizing that interparliamentary cooperation remains an important pillar of bilateral ties, the participants highlighted the value of regular contacts and reciprocal visits between the legislative institutions of the two countries. They also expressed confidence that the strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Türkiye would continue to deepen and discussed prospects for expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
