Azerbaijan Army Conducts Cybersecurity Exercises
On 28 March, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, the Azerbaijani Minister of Defence, and other ministry officials observed the "Cybersecurity Exercises - 2023", the press office of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence reported.
Major General Mammad Eminov, the Chief of the Main Department, briefed the Defence Minister on the exercises at the Cybersecurity Centre. It was noted that the main purpose of the exercises is to improve the ability to ensure the secure exchange of information with all types of headquarters and command posts within the Electronic Information System of the Azerbaijani Army, as well as to educate users about the existing threats in the system and other information resources, and to develop a cyber defence against possible attacks.
Military personnel will further improve their knowledge and skills by accomplishing various cyber security tasks during the exercises held at the centre, which is equipped with the most advanced technological equipment. The Minister of Defence positively assessed the progress of the exercises and set appropriate instructions for the command to continue developing cybersecurity activities in the Azerbaijani Army.
Earlier, former Chief of Staff of the Israeli Defence Forces Moshe Yaalon said that Azerbaijan and Israel are closely cooperating in the field of cyber security. According to him, modern technology is necessary for doing business and ensuring the security of networks and the army. "Today we are on a new battlefield without a physical enemy. Modern attacks are carried out with a huge stream of data at high speed," Yaalon added.
