Azerbaijan Exports $23.45 Million Worth of Goods to Armenia Between January and September 2026

Azerbaijan exported $23.45 million worth of goods to Armenia between January and September 2026, while imports from Armenia totalled just $96,460, highlighting the substantial imbalance in bilateral trade despite recent steps towards economic engagement. The, based on data from Azerbaijan’s State Customs Committee, show that exports to Armenia accounted for 0.10% of Azerbaijan’s total exports. Azerbaijan’s exports to Armenia have increased significantly from less than $1 million in 2025, when trade began expanding following the August Washington summit between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, hosted by US President Donald Trump.

The bulk of Azerbaijani shipments to Armenia has consisted of fuel and grain, including goods originating in third countries. Azerbaijani petrol began arriving in Armenia in December 2025, with supplies transported through Georgia. More than 99% of Armenia’s imports from Azerbaijan have reportedly consisted of oil and petroleum products, alongside smaller quantities of items such as plastic construction materials.

Trade has also begun flowing in the opposite direction. In September, Armenian Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan announced that Armenia had exported aluminium foil to Azerbaijan, marking a new step in bilateral commerce. Azerbaijan’s customs data recorded $96,460 in imports from Armenia during the first nine months of 2026, with $95,500 of that total registered in September. The available figures do not specify the exact share attributable to the aluminium shipment.

Although bilateral trade remains modest compared with the countries’ overall foreign commerce, the figures indicate that commercial links are developing alongside the peace process. However, the large gap between exports in the two directions shows that trade remains heavily weighted towards Azerbaijani shipments to Armenia, while Armenian exports to Azerbaijan are only beginning to emerge.
