Azerbaijan Exports Significant Amounts of Oil to Switzerland
Fuad Isgandarov, the Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Switzerland, said Azerbaijan sold crude oil to Switzerland this year for around 230 million Swiss francs. The Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Switzerland stated that legal action is being planned against Armenia for the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh and called for progress in the discussions.
At a press conference in Geneva, Fuad Isgandarov said, "We are extremely glad to cooperate with our Swiss colleagues." He said that while Switzerland had not yet received any crude oil from his country at the beginning of the year, shipments had grown to a total of EUR 232 million.
The envoy also claimed that hydrocarbons from Azerbaijan that go through Italy make up 70% of the crude oil reservoirs in Switzerland and other nations. "Since the commencement of the offensive in Ukraine, the gas corridor that begins in this nation has been providing additional European nations with natural gas," he added.
Azerbaijan and the EU announced plans to quadruple the volume by 2025 a few months ago. The envoy claimed that Switzerland ought to gain from this supply as well. On the political front, Isgandarov appreciates Switzerland and expresses proudness that negotiations on the Nagorno-Karabakh between the foreign ministers of his country and Armenia took place in Geneva, with US involvement in particular.
