Iranian military delegation visits Azerbaijan

On December 5, Vice Admiral Subhan Bakirov, the Commander of the Azerbaijani Naval Forces, met with Rear Admiral Shahram Irani, the Chief of the Navy of the Army of the Islamic Republic of Iran, who is on a visit to Azerbaijan.

The prospects for the development of cooperation between Azerbaijani and Iranian naval sailors were discussed at the meeting held in the headquarters building of the Azerbaijani Naval Forces. The importance of conducting joint exercises in the Caspian Sea to increase the professionalism of military personnel as well as to exchange mutual experience was emphasized. In the meeting, detailed views were exchanged on several issues of mutual interest.

On December 6, Azerbaijan Defense Minister Colonel General Zakir Hasanov received Rear Admiral Shahram Irani.

The Minister of Defense noted that Azerbaijan-Iran relations are based on ancient historical roots and emphasized the importance of mutual visits in terms of further development of military cooperation. During the meeting, detailed views were exchanged on the development prospects of military cooperation between the two countries, regional security, and several other topics.

Azerbaijani and Iranian foreign ministers meet in Moscow

On the sidelines of the meeting of the Foreign Ministers Council of the Caspian countries, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, Report.

During the meeting, bilateral and regional issues, as well as the current situation in the region, were discussed. The contribution to developing relations, the high-level meetings, and interdepartmental contacts held in recent months were highly appreciated. The parties discussed plans to develop and expand transport and communication corridors in the region. In this context, the importance of accelerating work within the framework of the "Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran on the creation of new communication links between the East Zangazur economic region of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic through the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran" was noted.

"Minister Jeyhun Bayramov informed the Iranian side about the prospects for the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, the obstacles caused by Armenia, as well as the work carried out in the Karabakh region after the anti-terrorist measures," the report noted. Bayramov emphasized that efforts to arm Armenia threaten peace and stability in the region.
