Azerbaijan Raises Truck Delays at Georgian Border with Tbilisi
Azerbaijan has raised concerns with Georgia over prolonged delays affecting trucks with Azerbaijani license plates at several customs checkpoints, with the Azerbaijani Embassy in Tbilisi submitting a diplomatic note to Georgia's Foreign Ministry.
The truck drivers have reported being held at the Sarpi and Red Bridge (Tsiteli Khidi) border crossings, as well as the Tbilisi Customs Clearance Center, for periods ranging from several days to several weeks without receiving an official explanation for the delays.
Some cargo owners suggested the delays may be linked to additional documentation requirements or administrative procedures, although Georgian authorities have not publicly commented on the reasons for the disruptions. Drivers have also expressed dissatisfaction over the lack of information regarding the status of their shipments.
The Azerbaijani Embassy confirmed that it has requested clarification from the Georgian authorities and said the issue is being addressed in coordination with the relevant state agencies.
