Azerbaijan Returns Detained Armenian Young Football Players

On September 7, the General Prosecutor's Office of Azerbaijan reported that three football players of Armenian origin who ended their administrative detention were released.

According to the information, three football players of Armenian origin who insulted the national flag of Azerbaijan were detained on August 28 by the military personnel of the State Border Service at the Lachin border crossing point of the Azerbaijan-Armenia state border. "As an example of the Azerbaijan state's commitment to humanitarian values, the criminal prosecution against them was terminated, and they were released from criminal liability, and all three of them were acquitted of criminal liability under Article 388-1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (placing information prohibited for dissemination in the Internet information resource or information-telecommunication network) by the decision of the court, he was administratively arrested for ten days," the information stated.

The government body informed that on September 7, since the punishment period of those persons ended, they were released and accompanied by the employees of the General Prosecutor's Office and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in accordance with the requirements of the legislation of Azerbaijan, it was ensured that they crossed the border crossing point of Lachin to Armenia.
