As a result of the Russian Army's missile strikes on Kyiv, the building of the Azerbaijani Embassy in Ukraine was damaged. One of the missiles hit a residential building on the street where the Azerbaijani Embassy is located. The wave of the rocket shattered the windows of the Azerbaijani Embassy building and cracked the walls of the building. Azerbaijani Ambassador to Ukraine Elmira Akhundova said that cracks appeared in the walls of the embassy building in Kyiv as a result of a missile strike. "Our embassy is located in a building dating back to the 60s. This building is a former kindergarten. Then it was adapted to the needs of our embassy. Another missile hit the embassy building two months ago. It was closer, and there was a stronger shock wave; several windows were broken, and cracks in the walls widened. Thank God our employees are safe," the ambassador said.

Yalchin Gahramanoglu, an activist of the Azerbaijani Diaspora Organization in Ukraine, said that the missiles fired by Russia on the last day mainly hit the Lukyanovka area of ​​Kyiv's Shevchenko district. According to Gahramanoglu, Russia has recently fired X-101 missiles from the Caspian Sea at factories and military facilities in Kyiv, and these missiles are very destructive. "The Azerbaijani embassy is also located near the Artyom plant, which is the target of missile strikes. The wave of missile strikes may damage the building of the Azerbaijani Embassy. This is real," he said.

In April, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Azerbaijan is providing humanitarian aid to Ukraine and is taking a neutral position in Russia's war against his country. "Turkey shows that it wants to be a leader among the countries that mediate in negotiations with Russia. Turkey has openly stated that it wants to be among the countries guaranteeing Ukraine's security. I have not heard this from Azerbaijan so far. However, I want to say that President Aliyev has always supported Ukraine. There was humanitarian and medical aid. I think it is difficult for Azerbaijan today to help Ukraine with weapons. This is understandable because they have the Nagorno-Karabakh problem. Azerbaijan is one of the few countries that we understand its position and neutrality because there could be another war. But in any case, we expect more," Zelenskyy stated.

The Azerbaijani Embassy in Ukraine resumed its activities in Kyiv on April 29 this year.
