Azerbaijani High-Level Delegation Visits Pakistan
On May 23, Colonel General Karim Valiyev, the delegation led by the First Deputy Minister of Defense – Chief of the General Staff of the Azerbaijan Army, left for an official visit to Pakistan on May 23 at the invitation of Army General Syed Asim Munir, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) of Pakistan, the Press Office of the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry reported.
Meeting with the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) of Pakistan
On May 24, Karim Valiyev met with Asim Munir.
Pakistani COAS noted that the friendly relations between the armies of Azerbaijan and Pakistan are in progress and have entered a new stage. He pointed out that Pakistan attaches particular importance to military cooperation with Azerbaijan and that there are great opportunities for further development of military relations.
Speaking about the provocations committed by the Armenian armed forces on the conditional border, the Chief of the General Staff emphasized that Armenia intentionally did this to aggravate the situation, and each time, they were given a worthy response.
At the meeting, the importance of expanding relations between the types of troops of the two countries' armies, holding joint Azerbaijani-Pakistani-Turkish exercises, and further developing trilateral cooperation was emphasized.
The sides discussed cooperation between Azerbaijan and Pakistan in the military, military-technical, and military-educational spheres, the continuation of mutual visits, and other issues regarding security and the fight against terrorism.
Visit to the headquarters of the Global Industrial and Defense Solutions (GIDS) conglomerate of Pakistan
On the same day, the delegation led by Colonel General Valiyev visited the headquarters of the Global Industrial and Defence Solutions (GIDS) conglomerate of Pakistan, specializing in the sphere of the defense industry of this country and is one of the largest manufacturers of products for military purposes. The Azerbaijani delegation is on an official visit to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
It was noted that the enterprise manufactures products for military purposes that are used on land, at sea, and in the air, including in air defense and integrated systems, as well as in nuclear, biological (bacteriological), and chemical defense.
The sides discussed the issues of mutual interest at the meeting with the participation of Khazar Farhadov, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Azerbaijan to Pakistan.
Meeting with the Federal Minister for Defense of Pakistan
On May 25, Karim Valiyev visited the Defense Chamber of the Parliament House. He met Khawaja Muhammad Asif, the Federal Defense Minister of Pakistan.
Khawaja Muhammad Asif emphasized the importance of increasing the combat capability of the armies of both countries, experiencing exchange in this field, and further developing the achieved results.
The sides discussed joint exercises and cooperation in the defense industry, including several issues of mutual interest. The importance of further expansion of military and military-technical cooperation between Azerbaijan and Pakistan was emphasized.
Visit to the Pakistan Special Service Group division
On the same day, Valiyev visited Pakistan's Special Service Group (SSG) division.
The General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Special Service Group (SSG) gave the delegation detailed information about the division's assignment and training process. It was noted that the division's personnel involve the special forces, mainly dealing with counter-terrorism, detection of necessary targets, releasing hostages, information, psychological, and several other special operations.
