Azerbaijani MPs Harshly Criticize Iran for Attack on Azerbaijani Embassy in Tehran

| News, Politics, Azerbaijan

On January 27, at about 8:30 AM (Baku time), an armed attack on the Azerbaijani Embassy in Iran took place. Azerbaijani government-controlled media blames Iran and accuses the Iranian side of conducting a terrorist attack on the Azerbaijani Embassy in Iran.

"If someone thinks that they will be able to put pressure on Azerbaijan with these steps, it is impossible"

Jeyhun Mammadov, a member of the Public Unions and Religious Institutions Committee of the Azerbaijani Parliament, stated, "The Iranian side is directly responsible for the armed attack on our Embassy. Because the Iranian media, television channels, radio, and newspapers are constantly promoting hostility against Azerbaijan. Today, only 'TikTok' If you look at, thousands of channels have been created there, these channels are making propaganda against Azerbaijan day and night. Some groups and individuals are citizens of Azerbaijan, who are under the protection of Iran, and who are active against Azerbaijan in Iran. One of them is Tohid Ibrahimbeyli, but there are others."

He added: "Islamic Resistance Movement has been established, and its main goal is an armed coup in Azerbaijan. They broadcast videos day and night. A video of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps [SEPAH] marching toward the Khudafarin bridge was also released a few days ago. All this creates a certain ground. In Azerbaijan, there were many times a rally in front of the Iranian Embassy, attempts to create some kind of conflict. But the government resolutely prevented it. Today, the Iranian Embassy in Azerbaijan is protected at the highest level, and its security is ensured. It should be mutual."

"The attack on our Embassy is a terrorist act, behind which are Iranian special services"

Fazil Mustafa, an MP of the Parliament, stated, "The attack on the Embassy is a very serious international scandal. Most likely, Iran's special services are behind this process. This is the peak of Iran's hostile policy towards Azerbaijan. All of this should be seriously investigated."

"It seems that they did it for this purpose. In any case, the state of Azerbaijan should and will take serious steps to protect its Embassy there. In any case, this will lead to very serious and very bad consequences. Today, Iran should not be happy that by taking such a step, it seems as if something they took their revenge. They want to show something to Azerbaijan. But this will not bring good results for Iran itself," he added.

"Iran itself had its eyes on the lands freed from occupation"

MP Javanshir Pashazadeh emphasized, "The armed attack on our Embassy in Iran is, of course, a very big issue. It is known to everyone that Iran has inappropriate opinions, attitudes, and provocations against us. Therefore, the defense of our Embassy should be organized more firmly and vigilantly. Our Ministry of Foreign Affairs has already issued a statement. The statement drew attention to some issues. I believe that our head of state, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, will pay attention to this issue and will respond to this atrocity committed in the Iranian state during the day, which does not correspond to any law or statehood."

"Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps organized a march near the bridge of Khudafarin. This is Iran's refusal to let Azerbaijan liberate its lands from occupation during the 44-day war. It seems that, along with Armenians, Iran itself also had an eye on those lands," he added.

"There is a possibility that the person who attacked the Azerbaijani Embassy is connected with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps."

Ganira Pashayeva, the chairman of the Culture Committee of the Azerbaijani Parliament, said: "Persian-mullah regime has always been a nest of terrorism, and today it is one of the main countries that support terrorism, it has a unique experience in the field of supporting terrorism and organizing terrorism."

The MP noted that the statement that the terrorist who committed the incident was allegedly an Armenian is a white lie premeditated by the Iranian special services and included in the news circulation: "It is well known to the special services that the terrorist is none other than the Iranian citizen Yasin Huseynzade, and that Yasin is precisely the special services of Iran, in particular, is also likely to be connected with SEPAH."

"Serious steps should be taken against Iran's mullah regime"

MP Fazail Agamali made a statement about the armed raid on the Azerbaijani Embassy in Tehran. He said, "I received the information about the attack and the death of the Embassy guard of the Azerbaijani law enforcement agencies during the repelling of the attack. This brutality committed on the territory of Iran against the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Tehran is completely contrary to the norms of international law and the essence of international conventions. Let's see whom the regime of Iran's mullahs will blame it on, who will they accuse as before."

"It is suspicious that the Iranian intelligence is not aware of the armed attack"

MP Mushfiq Jafarov stated, "Today, we received very disappointing news. I note with regret that our Embassy in Iran was attacked, and the Tehran police, which is considered strong, could not prevent it. Strangely, similar events are happening in France and Iran, which are patrons of Armenia. The Iranian government is responsible for the security of diplomatic buildings within the country. It is suspicious that the Iranian intelligence is unaware of this armed attack."

"I assume that the anti-Azerbaijani propaganda that has been going on in Iran lately is behind this incident. Azerbaijan already sees well who its victory worries about. We are working hard to live in peace and tranquility in the region with our neighbors. However, those who prevent peace today question prosperity," he added.
