Azerbaijani President Holds Talks with UAE and German Business Delegations on Economic Cooperation

On May 29, Ilham Aliyev, President of Azerbaijan, received a delegation of business representatives from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), led by Syed Basar Shueb, CEO and Managing Director of International Holding Company, to discuss expanding cooperation between the two countries.
During the meeting, both sides emphasized the growing ties between Azerbaijan and the UAE across various sectors, particularly economic and trade fields. They highlighted the importance of reciprocal visits by President Ilham Aliyev to the UAE and President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to Azerbaijan in strengthening bilateral relations. The favorable business and investment climate in Azerbaijan for both local and foreign entrepreneurs was underscored, and UAE investments in multiple sectors of Azerbaijan’s economy were praised. The parties expressed confidence that the UAE business delegation’s visit would be productive and yield positive results. Prospects for cooperation in investment, industry—including mining—and other fields were discussed.
On May 30, President Ilham Aliyev also met with Michael Harms, Chairman of the Eastern Committee of the German Economy. During their conversation, Aliyev recalled previous meetings with Harms and engagements with German business communities and company representatives. Both emphasized the significance of the German President’s visit to Azerbaijan in enhancing bilateral relations, especially in the economic sphere. The meeting highlighted expanding cooperation between Azerbaijan and Germany across various sectors, with particular attention to economic and trade relations.
Confidence was expressed that Harms’ visit would be productive and provide a valuable platform to discuss economic collaboration. Harms noted that a “Roadmap” on joint economic projects was planned to be signed with AZPROMO on that day and emphasized the political support from the President of Azerbaijan for this initiative. The discussion also covered Azerbaijan’s favorable investment climate, German business investments in the country, and prospects for future economic cooperation.
