Chechen Culture Days To Be Held in Separatist Tskhinvali Region
The Days of Chechen Culture will be held in the separatist South Ossetia/Tskhinvali Region in the spring. According to Rada Dzagoeva, the de-facto Minister of Culture of the Republic of South Ossetia, the republic will get acquainted with the work of the Chechen drama theater, the ensemble "Vainakh," and the works of artists. Days of Chechen culture in the Tskhinvali Region will be held for the first time.
"The events will be held from March 9 to 11. The Ministry of Culture of Chechnya sends two teams to us: the State Russian Drama Theater named after M. Lermontov and the State Academic Ensemble 'Vainakh.' Chechnya's artists will come with them; they will bring their works, and an exhibition will be held in Tskhinvali," the de-facto Minister added.
In Tskhinvali on March 9, on the stage of the State Drama Theater, there will be a performance of the play "Bela," based on Mikhail Lermontov's novel "A Hero of Our Time." On March 10, there will also be a concert by the Vainakh ensemble.
Dzagoeva noted that an agreement on expanding cooperation between the cultural departments of South Ossetia and the Chechen Republic was reached in the fall of 2022 during a visit to the Chechen Republic.
Later, a return visit will take place: the Days of Culture of South Ossetia will be held in Chechnya. In Grozny, one of the performances of the South Ossetian State Drama Theater will be shown, and a Simd State Ensemble concert program will be presented. The issue of the participation of South Ossetian artists is also being considered.
Dzagoeva added that the issue of exchanging cultural events with Abkhazia is being worked out. According to her, an agreement has already been reached with Minister of Culture Daur Kove on a visit to South Ossetia by the Abkhaz State Song and Dance Ensemble. The concert program is planned to be presented in early April.
