Chechen Ombudsman Comments on Sanctions Imposed by Ukraine

| News, Politics, North Caucasus

Mansur Soltaev, the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Chechen Republic,  commented on the personal sanctions of Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the President of Ukraine.

"Zelenskyy has imposed sanctions against Russian commissioners for children's rights. I was also on the 'black list' of this jester, which I am immensely glad about. It is a great honor for me to be among the worthy people who extended a helping hand to the civilian population of Donbas and took care of defenseless children who suffered from the arbitrariness of Ukrainian nationalists. This tragicomic once again demonstrates the Kyiv regime's criminal policy, which terrorized the Donbas population for many years and deprived thousands of children of their childhood," the Chechen Ombudsman stated.

According to Soltaev, he went to the Donbas to see the situation on the spot and to talk to people. "Local residents told how, during the fighting, Ukrainian troops and armed nationalists covered themselves with them like a human shield. In the hospital, I talked with children and their parents who were injured during the hostilities. They told terrible stories proving the crimes of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Russian commissioners for human rights take an active part in rescuing the civilian population of Donbas, including children. Of course, this does not please Zelenskyy and his criminal gang, who have used and continue to use civilians and, worst of all, children as hostages. No sanctions will stop us in our charitable activities - the implementation of the mission to save people in trouble," he said.

Soltaev stated, "I have no assets or capital in Ukraine, and Zelenskyy obviously does not have this information. It is not new for members of the team of the first president of Russia, Akhmat-Khadzhi Kadyrov and me to be on the next sanctions list, but we are glad to see such an event every time. This confirms that we and our entire country are on the right track, and no sanctions will force us to change course."

Earlier, Zelenskyy imposed sanctions against some Russian civil servants. Muslim Khuchiev, the head of the government of the Chechen Republic, was also blacklisted by the President of Ukraine.
