President of the House of Representatives of Cyprus, Annita Demetriou, expressed strong support for the Armenia–Azerbaijan peace process during a press conference in Yerevan, highlighting its broader significance for regional stability and Armenia’s European integration aspirations.

“We hope a peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan is signed as soon as possible. Speaker of Parliament Alen Simonyan informed us about the ongoing efforts in that direction. From our side, we are ready to support all attempts within the diplomatic framework. After all, the peace agreement must not only be signed but also fully implemented,” Demetriou stated.

She emphasized that achieving lasting peace would directly contribute to Armenia’s development, strengthen its international partnerships, and further its prospects for EU accession. “Stability and peace will contribute to Armenia’s development, the expansion of international cooperation, and the strengthening of its European path,” she noted.

Demetriou also stressed that peace would enhance Armenia’s relationships with other nations, adding, “When there is peace, any country thrives and develops.”

Drawing a personal and national parallel, she pointed to Cyprus’s own protracted conflict. “Cyprus has been divided for fifty years already. We know what it’s like to live under the conditions of a long-standing conflict. That experience is also the reason why Cyprus supports the Armenian people in their efforts to establish peace,” Demetriou said, expressing solidarity grounded in shared historical and geopolitical challenges.
