Dagestan and Kabardino-Balkaria have smallest pensions in Russia

The lowest pensions in Russia are in the North Caucasus. This follows from the published data on the average pension by region as of October 1.

According to the Pension Fund calculations, the average Russian pensioner receives 191 euros a month. At the same time, the amount can vary twofold - depending on the region. The highest pensions in the country are in Chukotka (313 euros) and in the Nenets Autonomous Okrug (289 euros). The average pensioner in Moscow and St. Petersburg receives 205 euros a month.

The average pension in Dagestan is 144 euros, followed by Kabardino-Balkaria (147 euros). In Karachay-Cherkessia, North Ossetia, Ingushetia, Chechnya, the average pension is less than 168 euros.

Among the regions of the Southern Federal District, the highest pensions are in the Volgograd Region (180 euros) and the Krasnodar Territory (177 euros), and the smallest pensions are in Kalmykia (160 euros) and Adygea (167 euros).

As of October 1, 42 million pensioners are registered in Russia.

Experts explain the significant division in terms of the average pension in the constituent entities by a number of circumstances: from the length of official work experience (the highest unemployment in the country is in the North Caucasus), the size of salaries and, accordingly, pension contributions, as well as a number of increasing coefficients and allowances, for example, "northern." Above the average Russian pension for former civil servants, military, and security officials, as well as those presented with state awards.

The most acute problems of society, according to Russians, are the rise in prices (61%), poverty and impoverishment of the population (36%), corruption and bribery (33%), a third of respondents (32%) believe that one of the main problems of Russian society is the coronavirus epidemic, the results of an October poll by the Levada Centre claimed (recognised as a foreign agent in Russia).

Previously, all regions of the North Caucasus Federal District, as well as the Krasnodar Territory, Kalmykia and Adygea were at the bottom of the annual ranking in terms of mortgage availability. In the North Caucasus, only 17% of families can afford to take out a loan to buy real estate.

In 2020, the highest unemployment rate among Russian regions was recorded in Ingushetia - 29.8%, Chechnya (18.5%), Tuva (18%), Dagestan (15.7%), and North Ossetia (15.4%).
