Euronews enters Georgia

On 25 July the French channel Euronews and Georgian telecommunication provider Silknet have signed a deal on the creation of the Georgian branch of Euronews, reported agenda.ge.  Euronews Georgia will be a new Georgian information channel and digital platform, with Georgian and international news broadcasted in the Georgian language. It is scheduled to start broadcasting in 2020. Euronews will ensure the independence of editorial policy and appoint an editor of the new channel, compose its editorial council and control its activities”, read the official statement of Silknet.

The editorial charter of Euronews is based on the freedom of expression and editorial independence, based on the respect for facts. It is a widely recognised and trusted media brand, reaching almost 400 million homes across 160 countries. It reaches more viewers in continental Europe than any of its rivals. Since its launch in 1993 in Lyon, France, Euronews has developed the world's first “glocal” news brand, the first global media that adapts itself to the expectation of its multiple local audiences. In 2017, NBC News and Euronews announced their partnership bringing together two large news companies. Euronews also launched Africanews in 2016, the first pan-African, multilingual and independent news outlet.
