Georgian Foreign Minister on Working Visit to Israel

On May 1, Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili visited Israel. He paid his respects to the victims of the Nazi Regime by laying a wreath at the Yad Vashem World Holocaust Remembrance Centre on behalf of the Georgian people.

Meeting with the Minister of Economy and Industry

On May 2, Ilia Darchiashvili and Nir Barkat, the Minister of Economy and Industry of the State of Israel, signed a joint declaration on the completion of the technical and economic feasibility study for a free trade agreement between Georgia and the State of Israel. 

Before the signing ceremony, the Minister met with the Minister of Economy and Industry of Israel. Within the framework of the meeting, the sides discussed current issues on the agenda of bilateral and multilateral cooperation and the great potential for collaboration in the economic area, including bilateral trade, investments, and tourism.

Meeting with the President

On the same day, Ilia Darchiashvili met with Isaac Herzog, the President of Israel.

The meeting focused on important issues of Georgia-Israel bilateral and multilateral cooperation. The sides took special note of the traditionally friendly relations between the countries. At the end of the meeting, the sides once again confirmed their readiness to continue close cooperation in both bilateral and multilateral formats.

Isaac Herzog once again confirmed the unwavering support of the State of Israel to Georgia's territorial integrity and sovereignty.

Meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Israel

On May 3, the head of the Foreign Ministry met with Eli Cohen, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Israel.

The parties discussed a wide range of relations between the two countries and the possibilities for further development; special attention was paid to deepening cooperation between Israel and Georgia in trade, economy, and tourism. Within the framework of the meeting, the "Agreement between the Government of Georgia and the Government of the State of Israel on cooperation in the field of tourism" was signed. The importance of signing the "Joint Declaration on the Completion of the Feasibility Study on the Free Trade Agreement between Georgia and the State of Israel" was also mentioned. The conversation touched on the security environment of the region and the world. Ilia Darchiashvili thanked his colleague minister for steadfastly supporting Georgia's territorial integrity and sovereignty. During the meeting, the parties agreed to continue active cooperation on various issues included in the agenda.

Meeting with the Speaker of the Israeli Knesset

On the same day, Ilia Darchiashvili met Amir Ohana, the Speaker of the Israeli Knesset,  

The close historical friendship between Georgia and Israel and the prospects for further developing partnership relations between the two countries were emphasized. The parties talked about the deepening of parliamentary relations and the issues of cooperation between the two countries in various fields. Parliamentary diplomacy's role and importance in developing multidisciplinary cooperation between countries were noted. The productive activity of the Georgian-Israeli parliamentary friendship groups and the importance of high-level exchange visits were also noted.
