German Ambassador to Azerbaijan: “German businesses can help boost the Southern Gas Corridor's capacity”

According to German Ambassador to Azerbaijan Wolfgang Manig, German firms can help extend the capacity of the Southern Gas Corridor (SGC). "Germany's Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy is now seeking for alternate energy import sources. Germany is interested in establishing gas supply via SGC," added the diplomat. He stated that the German Uniper energy supply and solutions firm has secured assurances from the Azerbaijani government and is working closely with the Azerbaijan Republic's State Oil Company (SOCAR).
"A meeting between two firms will take place tomorrow to discuss the future of their relationship. As soon as necessary agreements are completed, it will be allowed to discuss specific building projects. Perhaps the meeting with SOCAR tomorrow will provide benefits in this regard," Manig said.
Earlier, German Ambassador Wolfgang Manig identified Azerbaijan as a key economic partner in the South Caucasus at a meeting with Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov. The ambassador emphasised the significance of high-level bilateral visits as well as the expansion of bilateral cooperation in political, economic, security, cultural, and other areas.
