Ilia Darchiashvili Participates in Informal EU Foreign Ministers Meeting
On August 30–31, Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili took part in the Informal Meeting of Foreign Affairs Ministers in Prague. The Czech Presidency of the Council of the European Union hosted an informal meeting of EU foreign ministers. The main topic of discussion was Russian aggression against Ukraine.
They talked about the future of the Eastern Partnership and the prospects for the Associated Trio of Ukraine, Moldova, and Georgia in Europe. As part of this initiative, a working lunch with the Associated Trio was set up with the theme "The Future of the Eastern Partnership and the European Outlook of the Associated Trio Nations."
Meeting with Ukrainian counterparts
On August 31, Ilia Darchiashvili met with Dmytro Kuleba, his Ukrainian counterpart. According to the Georgian Minister, the parties discussed the main areas of cooperation between the countries. FM Darchiashvili tweeted that Georgia reiterated its unflinching support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Meeting with Irish and Moldovan counterparts
Moldovan and Irish foreign ministers, Nicu Popescu and Simon Coveney, also met with FM Darchiashvili. Darchiashvili and Coveney talked about the value of assisting the Associated Trio countries in their efforts to join the EU as well as methods to strengthen bilateral ties between Georgia and Ireland.
During the meeting with his colleague from Moldova, FM Darchiashvili held a detailed discourse on the two countries' objectives for Europe and stated his determination to further develop relations.
