| News, Society, North Caucasus

According to the Unified Interdepartmental Information and Statistical System data, as of December 2022, six regions of the South and North Caucasus were in Russia's top 15 constituent entities in terms of unemployment - we are talking only about those officially registered in the employment centers of non-disabled residents.

The traditional outsiders of the rating are Ingushetia and Chechnya. In Ingushetia, 27,000 residents, or 10.2% of the able-bodied population, work in employment centers, 14 times higher than the national average. In Chechnya - almost 52 thousand or 8%, 11 times higher than the national average.

In general, in the North Caucasus, at the end of 2022, official unemployment reached 2.5%. It is the least of all in the Stavropol Territory (0.6), Karachay-Cherkessia, and North Ossetia (1% each). The top 15 subjects in terms of unemployment also included Kabardino-Balkaria (1.7% at the end of 2022 - this is the fifth place in the country), Kalmykia (1.3%, tenth place), Dagestan (1.2%, 11th place ) and the Astrakhan region (1.1%, 14th place).
