Irakli Garibashvili Meets Officials from Armenia, China, and Switzerland

Meeting with Nikol Pashinyan

On September 24, within the scope of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili met Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan in New York, the Press Office of the Georgian Government reported.

Prime Ministers of Georgia and the Republic of Armenia reviewed the main topics of the current cooperation agenda of the two countries. They noted that interaction between the two nations has been developing dynamically, which is a good basis for a greater expansion of future cooperation. Irakli Garibashvili and Nikol Pashinyan discussed the situation in the South Caucasus. The politicians also stressed the significance of peaceful conflict resolution.

The Head of Government of Georgia expressed his readiness to act as a mediator again and facilitate peace and stability in the region and beyond.

Meeting with Foreign Minister of China

On September 21, Irakli Garibashvili met with Wang Yi, the State Councilor and Foreign Minister of the People’s Republic of China. 

Irakli Garibashvili and Wang Yi discussed the key directions of the cooperation between Georgia and the People’s Republic of China and commended the existing productive cooperation. It was pointed out that China is among Georgia’s top five trade partners. China’s support of Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity was pointed out. Emphasis was put on the importance of cementing bilateral ties, and the high dynamic of agency-level cooperation was applauded. The parties welcomed the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Georgia. They expressed readiness to foster the further deepening of the existing friendly relations between the two countries.

The Head of Government assured the State Councilor and Foreign Minister of the People’s Republic of China of Georgia of strong support for the One-China policy.

Meeting with President of Switzerland

On September 21, the partnership between the two countries and their successful cooperation across various spheres were the key topics of the meeting between the Georgian Prime Minister and Ignazio Cassis, the President of the Swiss Confederation.

Irakli Garibashvili met Ignazio Cassis within the scope of his visit to New York. The parties discussed the further development of bilateral cooperation in various directions. The politicians expressed commitment to further deepening the existing partnership.
