Iranian MP humiliated Iranian Azerbaijanis
Hidayatullah Khadimi, who represents the city of Iza in the Iranian parliament, insulted Iranian Azerbaijanis. He called those who raised the flag of the Republic of Azerbaijan at the Sahand Stadium in Tabriz "tula" (mean, poor).
"Those who ate the country's bread and shouted at the stadium like the mercenaries of Turkey and the Zionists and insulted the Iranians, the great Cyrus, should know that 2,000 years before their Oghuz ancestors plundered and massacred them in the desert, Cyrus and the Iranians ruled 50 percent of the earth," the MP wrote on his Twitter account.
He claimed that the Safavid state established in Ardabil had destroyed the Ottoman Empire and that Nadir Shah had "completed the process." Hidayatullah Khadimi wrote that the crowd chanting in Azerbaijani was a minority and asked the elected deputies from Tabriz to make a statement on the issue.
It should be noted that Azerbaijani activists raised the flag of the Republic of Azerbaijan during the match between Tractor and Persepolis on May 19 at the Sahand Stadium in Tabriz. The raising of the Azerbaijani flag together with the Turkish flag was greeted with applause by the audience. Social media activists said that raising the flag of the Republic of Azerbaijan and welcoming it with enthusiasm was a message to the Iranian government, even though the Iranian flag was not visible during the match between the two teams.
Earlier, Iranian border guards shot and killed an Azerbaijani citizen who tried to cross the border. According to the Press Centre of the State Border Service of Azerbaijan (SBS), the Iranian border service received information that an Azerbaijani citizen Mirjavad Musayev was killed by Iranian border guards while trying to cross the state border from Iran to Azerbaijan. "On May 18, Mirjavad Musayev's body was officially accepted with the participation of a representative of the prosecutor's office and handed over to his family members. A request was sent to the Iranian side to investigate the incident and [share]… the results," the statement said.
At the beginning of May, Commander of the Land Forces of the Iranian Army, Brigadier General Amir Kiumars Heydari spoke about the threat of one of the neighbouring countries and reiterated the old accusations about the presence of Israeli forces in Azerbaijan. He said "during the [Nagorno]-Karabakh war in the important and strategic north-western region (44-day war in 2020), according to information obtained by order of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of Iran, the [Israeli government] operated in one of the neighbouring countries. At that time, the Iranian Armed Forces were conducting military exercises in the north of the country. We have put forward two important and strategic conditions: First, we will not allow changes in the geopolitics of the region. Second, the [Israeli government's] henchmen must leave the region. We stayed in the area and these two conditions were met," he said.
Moreover, an Iranian cybercriminal group claimed to have attacked the website of the Azerbaijani Compulsory Insurance Bureau. A group calling itself the Iranian Cyber Army seized the website and obtained some information. The list includes state registration plates and features of several cars allegedly belonging to some state bodies of the Republic of Azerbaijan. In addition, the group claims that it was able to steal information about all cars in Azerbaijan, as well as their owners.
