He claimed that the Safavid state established in Ardabil had destroyed the Ottoman Empire and that Nadir Shah had "completed the process." Hidayatullah Khadimi wrote that the crowd chanting in Azerbaijani was a minority and asked the elected deputies from Tabriz to make a statement on the issue.

It should be noted that Azerbaijani activists raised the flag of the Republic of Azerbaijan during the match between Tractor and Persepolis on May 19 at the Sahand Stadium in Tabriz. The raising of the Azerbaijani flag together with the Turkish flag was greeted with applause by the audience. Earlier, Iranian border guards shot and killed an Azerbaijani citizen who tried to cross the border. Moreover, an Iranian cybercriminal group claimed to have attacked the website of the Azerbaijani Compulsory Insurance Bureau. A group calling itself the Iranian Cyber ​​Army seized the website and obtained some information. The list includes state registration plates and features of several cars allegedly belonging to some state bodies of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
