Jabbarov’s Turkmenistan Visit Brings New Agreements, Business Initiatives and Deeper Bilateral Cooperation

On July 8, Mikayil Jabbarov, the Economy Minister of Azerbaijan, stated that Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan discussed expanding cooperation in trade, investment, industry and business development during the 9th meeting of the Azerbaijan-Turkmenistan Joint Intergovernmental Commission held in Turkmenistan. During the working visit, Jabbarov met with Nokerguly Atagulyyev, the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan and Co-Chair of the Azerbaijan-Turkmenistan Joint Intergovernmental Commission. The sides discussed improving the effectiveness of the commission’s activities and explored opportunities to strengthen cooperation in trade, investment, industrial development and the expansion of business ties.

Following the meeting, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan signed a protocol aimed at deepening cooperation in economic and trade relations, energy, transport, agriculture, food security, environmental protection, water management and other priority areas. Jabbarov stated that the document would contribute to strengthening the partnership between the two countries. The minister also highlighted the initiative to establish the Azerbaijan-Turkmenistan Business Council, describing it as an important platform for expanding economic cooperation, developing business relations and diversifying export opportunities.

During his visit, Jabbarov also held talks with Rashid Meredov, the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. He stated that the sides discussed prospects for strengthening economic dialogue, expanding business cooperation and developing new areas of partnership, particularly in the energy sector. Jabbarov noted that Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan are working to diversify their economic partnership and promote joint initiatives. During a meeting with Serdar Berdimuhamedov, the President of Turkmenistan, the sides emphasized that the close relations between the leaders of the two countries and Berdimuhamedov’s previous visit to Azerbaijan have further strengthened bilateral ties. "We shared our views on diversifying business partnership, promoting joint initiatives and strengthening regional economic and trade cooperation," Jabbarov stated.

The Azerbaijani minister also held a meeting with Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan. He emphasized that Azerbaijan-Turkmenistan relations continue to develop based on friendship, mutual trust and the political will of both countries’ leadership. Jabbarov stated that during the meeting, the sides exchanged views on key priorities of bilateral economic cooperation and discussed large-scale projects aimed at further diversifying the partnership between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan.
