Jeyhun Bayramov Participates in Ukraine Recovery Conference
During his speech at the Ukraine Recovery Conference as part of his business trip to the United Kingdom on June 21, Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said that Azerbaijan intends to provide equipment for Ukraine in the field of demining.
According to the Press Service Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the minister said that the situation around Ukraine, which has caused numerous human casualties and a humanitarian disaster, is a great threat to peace and security in Europe. "In this regard, it was noted that Azerbaijan supports the resolution of this crisis within the framework of Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity as soon as possible," the information said. In the information, it is noted that Jeyhun Bayramov has brought to attention that Azerbaijan has sent its first humanitarian aid to Ukraine starting from February 27, 2022. "Referring to the bitter experience of Azerbaijan in the 90s of the last century, the minister said that it is well understood that the civilian population, especially children, constitute one of the most vulnerable segments of society during war and conflict," the information added. "In this regard, our country provided medical and social-psychological rehabilitation services to 100 children from Ukraine. We plan to double this number by the end of the year," Jeyhun Bayramov noted.
Referring to Azerbaijan's post-conflict recovery and reconstruction experience, Jeyhun Bayramov noted that large-scale construction works are being carried out in the territories freed from the occupation of Armenia, according to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It is noted that Jeyhun Bayramov said that despite the current difficulties, Azerbaijan intends to provide equipment to Ukraine in the field of demining. "Bayramov pointed out that Azerbaijan has not spared its experience and support in post-conflict reconstruction works and noted that his country has already supported several construction works in Ukraine, including the restoration of a school in the city of Irpin," the report noted. Jeyhun Bayramov said Azerbaijan's support for recovery and reconstruction efforts in Ukraine will continue.
Meeting with the Minister of State for the European Region of the United Kingdom
On June 20, within the framework of a business trip to the United Kingdom, a meeting of the Strategic Dialogue between the two countries was held with the participation of Jeyhun Bayramov and Leo Docherty, the Minister of State for the European Region of the United Kingdom.
At the meeting, detailed views were exchanged on many aspects of the political consultations between Azerbaijan and the United Kingdom, including issues of strategic dialogue and issues of mutual interest on the regional and international agenda were discussed.
It was emphasized that there is mutually beneficial cooperation between Azerbaijan and the United Kingdom in all fields and the special importance of Azerbaijan as an important trade partner. It was stated that UK companies are successfully operating in both the oil and non-oil sectors of Azerbaijan's economy, and there are ample opportunities for further deepening of economic cooperation. The parties also discussed cooperation within the framework of international organizations, including relations with the European Union and the situation in Ukraine, in a multilateral format. At the meeting, current issues on the agenda of bilateral and multilateral cooperation between the two countries, the situation in Ukraine, and post-conflict efforts in the region were discussed.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said that during the past years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Ukraine, important achievements have been made in expanding bilateral and multilateral cooperation in the fields. The minister said that Azerbaijan, which has always supported Ukraine's territorial integrity and sovereignty, will continue its humanitarian aid in connection with the crisis around Ukraine.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov also informed the other party in detail about the current situation in the region, the peace and construction efforts of Azerbaijan in the post-conflict period, the steps taken toward the normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, and the current challenges.
Minister Dmytro Kuleba spoke satisfactorily about the bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Ukraine. He emphasized the role of intensive contact between the two countries leaders in this direction. Azerbaijan's humanitarian assistance to Ukraine was noted with satisfaction and gratitude.
