On May 30, Irakli Kobakhidze, Prime Minister of Georgia, met with Steve Daines, a member of the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee, to discuss bilateral relations, Georgia’s regional role, and the country’s political situation.

During the meeting, Kobakhidze reaffirmed the Georgian government’s readiness to reset ties with the United States and renew their strategic partnership based on a concrete roadmap designed to deliver tangible results for both nations. He emphasized Georgia’s vital role in maintaining peace and stability in the region, highlighting the country’s significant transit potential and its ability to offer partners access to multimillion-dollar markets. The government’s statement noted that the conversation also addressed the current political environment, with Kobakhidze stressing that political stability in Georgia was guaranteed and maintained by the government.
Following the talks, Daines issued a statement on social media expressing appreciation for the opportunity to meet Kobakhidze and reaffirmed Georgia’s essential role in fostering peace and prosperity in the Caucasus and beyond. He stated that he encouraged Georgia to work closely with President Donald Trump and his administration to advance mutual economic and security interests.
