Azerbaijan's Defense Minister met with a NATO representative

On March 9, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, the Minister of Defense of Azerbaijan, met with Lieutenant General Mustafa Oğuz, the Chief of Staff of NATO Allied Land Command, who is on an official visit to Azerbaijan, the Press Office of the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry reported.

"Then Colonel General Z. Hasanov informed the guest about the reforms carried out in the Azerbaijan Army under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Mr. Ilham Aliyev, the work done in the liberated territories, as well as the current situation on the Azerbaijani-Armenian conditional state border and the Karabakh economic region," the report added. "Speaking about the successes achieved in cooperation with NATO, the Defense Minister noted the importance of further developing mutual relations," it said.

Speaking about the current state of cooperation with Azerbaijan, the Chief of Staff of the NATO LANDCOM expressed his satisfaction with the positive results achieved in this field.

During the meeting, it was noted that Azerbaijan-NATO military cooperation is particularly important within the Operational Capabilities Concept (OCC) framework. The parties also discussed prospects for the development of Azerbaijan-NATO military cooperation.

On the same day, Colonel General Karim Valiyev, the First Deputy Minister of Defense – Chief of the General Staff of the Azerbaijan Army, met with Mustafa Oğuz.

The Chief of the General Staff greeted the guest and noted the development of relations between Azerbaijan and NATO, as well as the active participation of the Azerbaijan Army’s representatives in various NATO programs.

At the meeting, the North Atlantic Alliance's contribution to the training of Azerbaijan Army Units as part of NATO's Operational Capabilities Concept (OCC) was highly appreciated, as well as the directions of joint activities against existing and potential threats were discussed.

Lieutenant General Oğuz expressed his satisfaction with the visit to Azerbaijan and highly appreciated the activities of the military personnel of the Azerbaijan Army in all fields, including the professionalism of peacekeeping missions within the framework of partnership with NATO.

The NATO delegation visited a military unit

On March 10, the delegation led by Mustafa Oğuz visited one of the military units.

The guests were presented with a briefing on the history and activities of the military unit and Azerbaijan-NATO relations

. The delegation also got acquainted with the military equipment in the armament of the military unit.
