Opinion polls ahead of local elections in Georgia

A new Edison Research opinion survey commissioned by the opposition Formula TV in the run-up to the local elections set for 2 October 2021 has suggested that the ruling “Georgian Dream” is in lead.
“Georgian Dream” would receive 32% of the votes, the opposition United National Movement - 25%, former Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia's “For Georgia” party - 10%, Labour Party - 6%, “Girchi- More Freedom” led by Zurab Japaridze - 4%, if the local elections were held today. Other parties' ranking, including that of Lelo and “European Georgia,” varies between 1-3%.
The following three politicians top the chart of the personal approval rating - both former Giorgi Gakharia and incumbent Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze have 55% and the leader of the United National Movement Nika Melia - 45%.
“Georgian Dream” Chairman Irakli Kobakhidze has dismissed the survey as "wishful thinking" of former President Mikheil Saakashvili and former Defence Minister Davit Kezerashvili, who is the founder of Formula TV. Both are in self-exile and arewanted in Georgia for criminal charges stemming from their posts.
