Pashinyan and Mirzoyan Conduct a Series of Meetings and Calls with Russian, EU and US Representatives

Telephone conversation between Nikol Pashinyan and Antony Blinken

On November 15, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan had a telephone conversation with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, the Press Office of the Armenian Prime Minister reported. The interlocutors exchanged ideas on the normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, particularly the November 7 meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan in Washington and the subsequent trilateral meeting.

The interlocutors agreed to continue discussions on steps to increase the level of security and stability in the region, including settling humanitarian issues.

Secretary of State Blinken expressed the US willingness to continue supporting the settlement of Armenia-Azerbaijan relations and the Nagorno-Karabakh problem.

Prime Minister Pashinyan highly appreciated the US efforts and the personal involvement of Secretary of State Blinken.

Meeting between Pashinyan and EU officials

On the same day, Nikol Pashinyan received the delegation of special envoys of the EU and its member states on Eastern Partnership.

The Prime Minister welcomed the delegation's visit to Armenia and emphasized the continuous development of Armenia-EU cooperation. Nikol Pashinyan mentioned the reforms implemented in Armenia in the framework of the Eastern Partnership initiative in the areas of democracy development, justice, economy, and other directions and added that the agenda of promoting them is one of the key priorities of the Armenian Government. The Prime Minister also highlighted the effective implementation of the 2.6 billion euro economic and investment package declared by the EU for Armenia.

The expansion of Armenia-EU cooperation in economy, trade, investments, energy, and other directions was highlighted. Nikol Pashinyan added that Armenia ranks 11th among 165 countries in the World Economic Freedom Index.

The Prime Minister presented to the interlocutors the position and observations of the Armenian side regarding the Nagorno-Karabakh problem and the normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan. The activity of the EU observation mission in Armenia and its role in strengthening stability and security were emphasized.

The sides exchanged views on delimitation and border security between Armenia and Azerbaijan, the processes taking place in the region, and the Armenian-Turkish dialogue.

Meeting between Mirzoyan and EU officials

On November 15, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan received the delegation of special envoys of the EU and EU member states on Eastern Partnership, the Press Office of the Armenian Foreign Ministry reported.

Ararat Mirzoyan presented the reforms implemented by the Armenian government in various fields, the steps undertaken towards promoting democracy, protecting human rights, and strengthening the rule of law.

Issues on the Armenia-EU bilateral agenda and the implementation process of the Armenia-EU Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement were discussed. Ararat Mirzoyan emphasized the importance of developing multi-sectoral cooperation with the EU through continuous and active steps, including within the framework of the Eastern Partnership, noting that there is a high-level political dialogue with the EU based on shared values. The sides exchanged views on the activity and significance of the EU Monitoring Mission in Armenia.

"Minister Mirzoyan briefed the interlocutors on the consequences of the Azerbaijani aggression of September 13-14 and touched upon the position of the Armenian side regarding the normalization of the relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan and the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia stressed that the maximalist approaches of Azerbaijan continue to obstruct the establishment of stability and peace in the region," the report added.

During the meeting, the developments of border delimitation and border security processes, regional economic ties, and unblocking of transport infrastructures were also discussed.

Meeting between Nikol Pashinyan and Igor Khovaev

On November 14, the Armenian Prime Minister received Igor Khovaev, the Russian Co-Chair of the OSCE Minsk Group, the special representative of the Russian Foreign Minister on supporting the normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

Nikol Pashinyan noted that, as he has already publicly announced, Armenia supports the proposals presented by the Russian side still in August of this year, which can be the basis for further negotiations on the settlement of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

The interlocutors discussed issues related to the results of the trilateral meeting of the leaders of Armenia, Russia and Azerbaijan held in Sochi on October 31, the process of the settlement of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations and issues related to the Nagorno Karabakh problem.

Meeting between Ararat Mirzoyan and Igor Khovaev

On the same day, Ararat Mirzoyan received Igor Khovaev, the Russian Co-Chair of the OSCE Minsk Group, the Special Representative of the Foreign Minister of Russia on the issues of supporting the normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan. 

During the meeting, the recent developments regarding the normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan and the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict were discussed.

"The interlocutors touched upon the recent trilateral meeting of the leaders of Armenia, Russia, and Azerbaijan held in Sochi on October 31 and the adopted joint statement. In this context, Ararat Mirzoyan emphasized the importance of the commitment of the sides to refrain from the use of force or threat of use of force, noting that Azerbaijan, with its aggressive behavior and maximalist aspirations, continues to obstruct the establishment of sustainable and lasting peace in the region," the report added.

Ararat Mirzoyan and Igor Khovaev also exchanged views on the border delimitation process between Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as on the unblocking of transport infrastructures in the region.
