Pashinyan Makes Finalising Azerbaijan Peace Deal Government Priority
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has the signing and ratification of the initialed peace agreement with Azerbaijan as a priority for the Armenian government.
Speaking at a Cabinet meeting on October 1, Pashinyan described peace as already a reality but not yet fully institutionalised. The government’s task, he stressed, is to complete the process by reaching the final stage of signing and ratifying the agreement.
“We have reached an interim milestone. But it is an interim milestone, not the final one. And we must move toward the final milestone,” Pashinyan stated.
In this context, he referred to the proposed Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity, border delimitation, the opening of regional communications, the process with Türkiye, the North-South road and the government’s Crossroads of Peace initiative.
Pashinyan urged Cabinet members to shape their political messaging around this priority and focus on practical problems and solutions, rather than letting the daily noise of information distract from the government’s agenda.
The peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan has been initialed but has not yet been signed and ratified. Its implementation is expected to involve further work on border delimitation and the opening of transport links across the region.
