Prosperous Armenia Leader Advocates for Strengthened Armenia-Russia Ties
On October 13, the Armenian newspaper "Zhoghovurd" ("People") published the written answers of Gagik Tsarukyan, the leader of the Prosperous Armenia party, to several questions posed to him.
The politician commented on the current stage of Armenian-Russian relations when he was reminded that he always advocated close ties with Russia. "I am doing the same thing now. Armenia needs allies, not the whole world. With the right policy, Armenia can have very good relations with both Russia and the West. The interests of our country demand it. The whole world is agitated, there are wars and disasters everywhere. Now, in these conditions we are facing, do we want to find a new adversary in the person of Russia?" he asked.
Tsarukyan reminded that a significant part of the Armenian people live in the West, while a large part lives in Russia and other countries. "This is the fate of our people. Taking this into account, we should build our foreign policy, the essence of which is real good relations, not favoring one at the expense of the other," he concluded.
