On October 19, Sergey Kopyrkin, the Russian Ambassador to Yerevan, stated that Russian President Vladimir Putin and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan are expected to meet on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in Kazan.

Kopyrkin noted that Pashinyan's acceptance of Putin's personal invitation to participate in the BRICS+ events during the XVI summit reflects the strong ties between Russia and Armenia at the highest levels. "I believe that our leaders will have opportunities to communicate, but the format and agenda will depend on the program of this international forum, which will be quite comprehensive," Kopyrkin said when asked about the planned Russian-Armenian interactions at the upcoming summit.

When questioned about potential discussions on the normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan during the BRICS summit, Kopyrkin stated that he did not have specific information. However, he suggested that the future inclusion of Yerevan and Baku in BRICS activities could enhance interstate dialogue, which could positively influence the normalization process between the two countries.
