Romania Reports Record Transit of Azerbaijani Gas to Hungary

| News, Economy, Azerbaijan

Transgaz, the technical operator of the national natural gas transmission system in Romania, citing its dataset, reported that a record was set for the volume of natural gas flowing through Romania to Hungary.

7.2 million cubic meters of natural gas entered Hungary per day through the ROHU gas interconnector. This is the highest value ever. Previously, the record was 6.8 million cubic meters per day. The record volume of gas transportation was made possible because Romanian Transgaz and Hungarian company FGSZ Zrt increased the capacity of the Csanadpalota compressor station on the Hungarian side of the border.

"Gas transmission system operators see this event as the first step of the Ring of Solidarity initiative, which aims to increase the capacity of alternative gas sources coming from the south to Central and Eastern Europe through close cooperation between network operators in Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, and Slovakia," Transgas noted.

Notably, most of the Azerbaijani natural gas flows through Romania to Hungary via Chanadpalota.
