Russian Finance Minister Promises Additional Funds to Chechnya
On April 28, Ramzan Kadyrov, the head of Chechnya, announced that he had met with Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov. They agreed to allocate additional funds to the republic from the federal budget.
"We discussed issues directly related to the development of the region's economy and the implementation of social policy. We have submitted to the Ministry of Finance objects, the construction of which is of paramount importance for the region, but without the help of the federal center, it is simply not feasible. I informed Anton Germanovich about our main achievements and problematic issues. We have agreed to provide the Chechen Republic with additional assistance to fulfill priority spending obligations of 5.5 billion rubles [EUR 61 million]. We also found support in providing additional funds to implement social support measures for citizens participating in the special military operation [Russo-Ukrainian War]," Kadyrov stated.
The head of Chechnya said that the issue of financing the construction of a new building of the Central District Hospital in the city of Achkhoy-Martan had been worked out. EUR 12 million will be allocated for the start of work. According to him, constructing a new hospital is paramount for the area's population exceeding 90,000 people.
They also discussed the creation of facilities for the treatment of MSW in Grozny. This year, EUR 5 million will be allocated for these purposes. An agreement was reached that the funds will be allocated in equal shares in the next budget cycles.
