Summing up the results of the inspection tour of facilities under construction in the separatist region on June 30, Dmitry Volvach, the Deputy Ministry of Economic Development of Russia, said that the main objective of the visit of the Russian delegation to the separatist South Ossetia/Tskhinvali region is to search for opportunities for its economic development.

"For two days, very close work has been going on with the republic's leadership, headed by President Alan Eduardovich. We are very carefully considering the possibilities for the economic development of the Republic of South Ossetia with the unconditional support of the Russian Federation, taking into account the programs that are in place, considering that we have launched a new investment cycle for 2022-2025. Our task is to find new solutions that will allow us not only to receive subsidies from Russia, although this is and will be a serious support for ensuring the level of wages in the whole republic and for state purposes," Volvach said. According to him, the main thing is to find growth points when investments with budgetary support from Russia and South Ossetia allow such enterprises as, for example, the Vysokogornaya Kelskaya brewery to develop. "Even in Soviet times, brewing production was developed here. Most likely, this is due to the high quality of water and the high quality of technology. Production was restored two years ago. Here is completely new equipment, and a new high-quality product is obtained. The equipment is Russian, which means that investors and owners of the enterprise can count on support measures through the Investment Program. There should be more and more such examples in the republic," he said.

Volvach also hopes for an early launch of facilities that, for some reason, are not yet operational. "We, together with our colleagues, have been launching the basalt plant for the second year. I hope we will also start production and the apple orchards we visited today. It can be seen that people were engaged professionally, but for some reason, it did not work out. Our task is to find solutions: both administrative and economic, so that these apple trees begin to bear fruit they turn into a real business. To be able to produce and exhibit this agricultural product both on the domestic market and for export," he noted.

Volvach emphasized, "I would also like to see facilities for the processing and disposal of waste, purification of water in settlements, improvement of the quality of the road surface and lighting put into operation as quickly as possible."

"We would very much like the Russians to remember these beautiful lands as a center of attraction for tourism. The potential is colossal; we need to think about investments, placements, and logistics. There is a target audience who will come to South Ossetia with pleasure to enjoy nature, air, local cuisine, and history," the official said.
