Shipments of Kazakh Oil to be Carried Out Through Azerbaijan

On Kazakh oil transport company "KazTransOil" plans to carry out a trial transportation of 7,000 tons of oil from the Kashagan field to the Aktau port for delivery to the port of Baku. According to "KazTransOil" oil transportation company, "INPEX North Caspian Sea, Ltd" is the shipper of Kashagan oil.

In a briefing on March 10, Deputy Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan Roman Vasilenko said that the transportation of Kazakh oil through the territory of Azerbaijan would begin this year.

Before that, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Alikhan Ismayilov said that 1.5 million tons of Kazakh oil would be transported through the territory of Azerbaijan in early 2023. "We already have an agreement on the transportation of 1.5 million tons of oil on the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan route from January 1, 2023. At the same time, we plan to increase the volume to 6-6.5 million tons in the future. He noted that pilot shipments have already started by rail in the direction of Batumi and Uzbekistan, and the number of tank cars has been doubled," he noted.
