Iranian Consul General in Kapan, Morteza Abedin Varamin, emphasized Tehran’s confidence in Armenia’s assurances regarding border security, stating that no foreign military personnel will be deployed along the Armenian border.

“It doesn’t matter who says what. What is important to us are Armenia’s statements,” Varamin told reporters. “The Armenian authorities have informed us that the borders will remain inviolable, and this ‘red line’ of Iran will be respected.”

He highlighted the historical significance of the Iran-Armenia frontier, calling it “a border of friendship and tolerance” that has stood for thousands of years without issues. “We have never encountered problems on that border,” Varamin noted, underscoring the long-standing good relations between the two nations.

The consul general warned that interference by external forces would not benefit regional countries and reaffirmed that Armenia’s position remains a key factor for Iran. “Senior Iranian officials will study everything in detail,” he added, clarifying that Armenia maintains full control over its borders.
