Transparency International Georgia: "Georgian Dream Gets Most Donations"
On November 16, Transparency International-Georgia (TIG) reported that a total of USD 713,481 had been given to political parties from the start of the year to September 30. Of this amount, USD 244,424, or 34%, went to the ruling Georgian Dream.
The Conservative Movement, with USD 144,456, Lelo for Georgia, with USD 136,011, the United National Movement, with USD 78,137, European Georgia, USD 47,888, and the Droa, with USD 23,502, are the next on the list after the Georgian Dream.
According to TIG, significant corporate organizations with close relations to either Bidzina Ivanishvili or the ruling party provided the overwhelming bulk of donations to the Georgian Dream during this time. For instance, three people connected to Ivanishvili's Cartu Group or Bank, Nato Khaindrava, Zurab Gogua, and Gocha Chikviladze, gave USD 36,700 on the same day. Additionally, they have given a total of USD 308,282 in the past. Additionally, a government-connected businessman named Noshrevan Nomaradze contributed USD 36,700. Previously, Nomaradze and his wife gave the party USD 62,390.
Notably, Tamaz Tamazashvili, the father-in-law of Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, gave USD 3676 to the Georgian Dream. He has given the party 12 donations totaling USD 21,023 in previous years.
