US-Armenia Talks Focus on Security and Stability in the Caucasus
Louis Bono, Senior Advisor for Caucasus Negotiations at the US Department of State, visited Yerevan on July 25, two weeks following a meeting between the Armenian and Azerbaijani foreign ministers in Washington.
Armen Grigoryan, Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia, met with a US special envoy for Armenia-Azerbaijan peace talks. According to the Office of the Security Council of Armenia, their discussion focused on regional security and stability. They also addressed the process of normalizing relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan and the latest developments in this area.
The Security Council chief reaffirmed the commitment of the Armenian side to establishing comprehensive and lasting peace in the region.
The US Embassy in Armenia similarly reported that Bono met with senior Armenian officials to discuss ongoing efforts to resolve the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict. “Now is the time to sign a peace agreement that will allow the South Caucasus to realize its social and economic potential,” the embassy said in a statement.
